Founded by the eponymous Rachel Rowlands, the inspiring story of Rachel’s Organic begins many years ago on the fields of Brynllys Farm in rural west Wales.

Nurtured by Rachel's family since 1942, Brynllys has been farmed organically for generations. In fact, Rachel’s mother was one of the first people to sign up to the Soil Association in 1952. So, it was only natural that Brynllys went on to become Britain’s first ever certified organic dairy.

When Rachel and her husband Gareth took to the helm in 1966, they remained true to her family’s organic principles supplying premium quality organic milk to the Milk Marketing Board.

However, in 1982 the elements conspired to set them on another path. Freak snow storms hit Aberystwyth preventing the milk tankers from reaching the farm and Rachel was forced to find other ways of using the milk. So, whilst her family began distributing emergency supplies locally, in her own pioneering way, Rachel heralded a quiet revolution by resurrecting her grandmother’s butter churn and setting about making cream and butter by hand.
