Cherubs Chowder
From 6 months • Makes 3 portions • Suitable for freezing
The amount that babies eat varies enormously. The quantity of food one baby needs to eat to maintain the same growth rate can be very different to the next baby even if they are the same age and weight. They have different metabolic rates and different activity levels and the food that their mums are making them can vary in calorie content per ml of food enormously. Babies also tend to vary the amount they eat from week to week and this is also perfectly normal. The suggested portions are therefore to be used only as a guide.
Ingredients
40g chopped onion
25g Rachel’s Organic unsalted butter
175g carrot, peeled and chopped
100g potato, peeled and chopped
50g tinned sweetcorn
2tbsp Rachel’s Organic whole milk
25g grated Cheddar
Method
Melt the butter in a small saucepan and sauté the onion for 6 to 7 minutes over a low heat. Put the carrots into a steamer and steam for 5 minutes. Add the potatoes and steam for 10 minutes. Add the sweetcorn and steam for 1 minute more. In the plastic bowl of a hand blender, mix together the carrot, potato, sautéed onion, sweetcorn, milk and grated Cheddar.
