Ten Green Things About Us

  1. At Rachel's we only make organic products - we are a 100% organic company.
  2. Any yogurt we have left over is given to a local farmer to feed to his animals.
  3. Our organic milk comes in bulk tankers so as to minimise packaging and our fruit is delivered in plastic buckets which we recycle, as we do with any cardboard that is used at our Dairy.
  4. We encourage everyone who works at our Dairy to come to work on foot, on bicycle or by bus.
  5. In order to reduce food miles the Rachel's Dairy is located near to the farmers who supply us with the organic milk we use in our organic yogurts and we never import anything by air.
  6. All the milk we use to produce our yogurts comes from British farmers and all of it comes from within 75 miles of the dairy.
  7. Moving to a thinner plastic yogurt pot with a recyclable cardboard sleeve has saved at least 240 tonnes of plastic per year.
  8. We are investigating running our factory on power generated from wind, water or waste wood. For now we have reduced our CO2 emissions by 10% by running our boiler on LPG.
  9. We now have our own borehole, producing high quality water to use in the Dairy and throughout our business we use energy-efficient lighting, FSA-accredited paper and recycle envelopes.
  10. We have achieved the Green Dragon Standard at Level 2, a reflection of our environmental commitment.
